Nationwide Check Scam

The Brewer Police Department is asking that any local businesses that received checks from this individual contact Sgt. Jason Moffitt or Det. Sgt. Jay Munson at 989-7001.

It has been determined that this individual wrote 2 checks to Brewer businesses during the month of June 2004. He has used multiple aliases, including; Bruce Grants, Steven Anderson Jacob Night, and Jacob Adams.

This individual was writing counterfeit checks, purportedly from a Bank of America account, across the country and state. He uses false Texas Identification cards and is reportedly very convincing in passing himself off as a US Marine (In fact, he is NOT a member of the US MIlitary).

This subject has been identified and felony warrants are pending in Androscoggin County. BPD urges that any businesses with returned "Bank of America" checks that may have been written by this individual contact us.
