Multi-Agency Investigation Results in Arrest of Home Invasion Suspect
October 16, 20007

As result of cooperation between the Brewer Police Department, Holden Police Department, Bangor Police Department and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, numerous area night time and day time residential burglaries have been solved.

On 10/16/2007 the Cpl. Anthony Pinette of the Brewer Police Department and Chief Gene Worcester of the Holden Police Department were investigating two night time burglaries that occurred in the Elm Street / Wiswell Road area of both towns. They received information about a suspicious person in the Copeland Hill area and searched for the suspect vehicle.

The information developed by these agencies was passed to other area Police Departments on the evening on 10/16/2007. Officer Nick Fletcher of the Holden Police Department and Deputy Chad Young of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office obtained further information about a possible suspect. Brewer Officer’s Steve Boyd and Peter Rancourt searched for the vehicle and enlisted the help of Officer Shawn Green of the Bangor Police Department. Sgt. Gene Fizell of the Holden police department was called in to assist in the investigation. Officer Green subsequently located the suspect’s vehicle in the early morning hours of 10/16/2007. Officer Green and Officer Kerry Warner initiated surveillance of the vehicle and followed it into Brewer. Brewer Officers Steve Boyd and Peter Rancourt and the Bangor officers stopped the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Paul Hatch (age 21 of Orrington), was ultimately arrested for possession of approximately 2.5 grams of rock cocaine, Operating After Suspension, and Burglary. Evidence and other information collected are expected to result in the prosecution of at least ten area burglaries that have occurred during the months of September and October.
