CAR BURLGARS CAUGHT IN THE ACT – MULTIPLE CRIMES SOLVED 9/4/2009During the past several weeks both Brewer and Bangor have been plagued with car burglaries occurring during the night time and early morning hours. During the past week, Brewer PD has caught 4 individuals in the act of committing car burglaries. On September 4 at 3:11 a.m. Corporal Levi Sewall and Officer Amy Nickerson were dispatched to the area of Colonial Circle in Brewer when it was reported that three individuals wearing backpacks were walking behind an apartment building near the woods. Corporal Sewall located the three men. The officers quickly determined that the individuals had stolen property in their possession and admitted to committing approximately 25 motor vehicle burglaries in Brewer. In addition to the Brewer crimes, the individuals were implicated in a large number of motor vehicle burglaries (estimated to be between 30 and 40) in Bangor. Bangor PD was notified and Detectives from both Departments recovered additional stolen property at a residence on North Main Street in Brewer. Brewer PD has charged Jessie Cote (18 of Brewer), William Gustin (20 of Bangor) and Bryan Reed (19 of Brewer) with Burglary to a Motor Vehicle. The Brewer Police Department still has stolen property recovered from this incident that has not been returned to the rightful owners. On September 1 at 4:19 a.m. Officer Amy Nickerson and Officer Jeff Gotreau responded to an apartment complex on Eastern Avenue when a resident reported a car alarm going off. While responding to the call, Officer Nickerson was nearing the scene when she located a male juvenile on Chamberlain Street hiding under a car. The 17 year old juvenile from Bangor was taken into custody when officers linked him to nine motor vehicle burglaries that had just occurred. |
