Brewer Police Department Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2005 Citizens Police Academy

The Brewer Police Department is once again taking applications from citizens wishing to participate in the Brewer Police Citizen Police Academy. Beginning this fall the Brewer Police Department will host its second session of the Citizen Police Academy commencing on September 14, 2005 and ending on November 16, 2005.

The Brewer Police Department conducted its first Citizen Police Academy during the spring of 2005. During the first session citizens were exposed to police procedures, police operations, police policies, drug identification, firearms training, high risk encounters with armed citizens, criminal investigations, and several other areas of law enforcement.

Due to the success of the first session we are planning our second session of the Brewer Citizen Police Academy. The class size is limited to 20 citizens (students) per session. Anyone wishing to participate in the second session of the Citizen Police Academy should contact the Brewer Police Department to obtain an application. All participants will be required to pass a limited background check. Background checks are conducted on all participants to help protect the integrity of the program.

Citizens who are interested in this program can contact the Brewer Police Department by calling 989-7001 during regular business hours of 8AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday, or stop by the police department located at 122 South Main Street, Brewer.
